Among the ingredients for chocolate fondue, the first is of course the chocolate. I prefer the more pronounced character of dark chocolate, but feel free to choose lighter or even white chocolates.
A second element is the double cream. This is necessary if you use dark chocolate, but can probably be omitted with lighter chocolates. Here we have added Amaretto, other alcohols would do just as well (cherry liqueur, Williams pear liqueur, rum, Bailey's, Cointreau, Armagnac, Grand Marnier, etc.). Note that as the fondue is warm, after a few minutes, all the alcohol is evaporated and only the taste remains, so no worries for young souls. Other possible ingredients: cinnamon, vanilla, coffee powder, mint. |
